This week we focus on using the Posture-Mate HB together with a High-Back Wheelchair. When What are the benefits of the product, and when should you select it for your patients?
Posture-Mate HB is a unique ergonomically designed seat and back cushion support system for use with reclining/high-back wheelchairs, which can provide postural alignment, comfort and pressure redistribution. It supports the prevention of poor posture & related falls and the prevention of pressure injury formation and the healing of existing wounds. We designed the HB specifically for LTC and end of life patients, and users of High-Back wheelchairs.
Indications for use:
- Leaning, slumping, sliding or general discomfort when confined to the wheelchair for long periods of time.
- High risk of skin integrity or existing wounds.
- Use of High-back and reclining wheelchairs
- Poor Posture / weakness and inability to maintain sitting position (especially at end of life)
- Inability to self-propel in a standard wheelchair
- Fall Risk
- Existing pressure injuries
- Medium to high risk of developing new pressure injuries.
