It’s National Assisted Living Week

It’s National Assisted Living week again, which was established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995. As we celebrate this weeks 24th anniversary, its an opportunity to focus on specific resident needs and interventions that can increase their quality of life, and help them to maintain independence, dignity and safety while going about their activities of daily living, or enjoying activities and events.

Whether residents are seated in dining chairs, transport chairs, standard wheelchairs or geri-chairs, its important that we observe and ask ourselves, are they really comfortable and safe.

Correct ergonomic seating is essential for skin protection, comfort, safety and correct posture. If your residents don’t have dedicated personal seating, and they spend most of the day sitting, then you should consider adding a properly designed, clinically evidenced seat cushion from the range of Posture-Mate clinically proven, ergonomically designed products. Basic gel/foam comfort only cushions are not enough.

Posture-Mate seating has a 33 patient clinical outcome study, published in OWM, that evidences how wounds may be prevented and healed, and falls from the chair may be avoided by using the Posture-Mate product.

Spinal alignment, posture, comfort, safety and patient compliance are improved with Posture-Mate, along with skin protection and wound healing. So this week, lets think about our patients correct seating needs, get creative and consider the Posture-Mate clinically proven solution for comfort, and wound and fall reduction.
